High School Writing Experience

This past year in my AP World History class, I had to write an essay describing the differences in technology during  World War I and World War II. I had to research all of the different technologies during the two eras, mostly talking about trench warfare and developments in weapons technology. My thesis was probably something along the lines of "There were many different tactics and technologies used during WWI and WWII." as a classic high school thesis seems to go, and I supported my thesis by breaking up the use of trench warfare, advancements in weaponry, the use of air and naval warfare etc. into different paragraphs. Im not entirely sure if I used rhetorical devices, but if I did I didn't use them consciously.

  1. In my past experiences in both AP and PAP classes I have noticed that when a research paper is assigned, no matter what the subject or topic is, goes smoother when a well developed thesis is formed and used at the start of the paper. I've also found that including more dates and events will help the writing flow.

  2. I wrote a paper for my honors American History class much like the one you were describing in your blog post. The topic was very fun and interesting to research. Although, I am sure you probably had much more fun than I did researching weapons and such.
